The Handmaids of the Sacred Heart of Jesus are an International Order with schools and convents in 25 different countries. Belonging to this impressive network supports our aim of ensuring our pupils leave Saint Christina’s as global citizens.
We are proud to be part of the Province which covers Portugal, France, Ireland and the UK.
Every year a different school within our Province hosts an Education Conference. The objective of these conferences is to strengthen the links between all the Handmaid schools, develop a greater sense of global perspective and enhance the professional development of staff within our schools.
Saint Christina’s had the privilege of hosting the last ‘Gathering.’ Over the course of three days, the delegates enjoyed a special welcome assembly and tours of the school. Lessons were created to fit the theme of ‘Awe and Wonder in Learning and Leadership’, and Fr Adrian Porter SJ delivered a deeply thoughtful and inspirational keynote talk. His theme was around our purpose and how within our schools we can achieve the very best for the children we have the privilege to teach.
The Handmaid schools also support one another in times of need. We are currently looking at ways to support our schools in South and Central America.
