Reception Class
Our Reception classes have had an exciting and engaging start to the year! The children have loved attending their specialist classes, including computing, music, Spanish, and PE. We’ve explored many exciting topics, including the arrival of Autumn. The children went on a nature walk to Primrose Hill, looking for signs of the changing season. Our inquiry into trains sparked curiosity, leading to lots of questions and discoveries. We also talked about caring for our world, and as part of a mini-project, the children made compost using their orange and banana peels from snack time. Another highlight has been learning about animals, including which ones are nocturnal.
The children enjoyed making animal masks as part of this fun exploration. Our cooking sessions have been a hit too, with delicious creations like carrot cake, toast, and roasted pumpkin seeds. As part of our Black History Month celebrations, we’ve learned about some famous artists including Alma Thomas and Jean-Michel Basquiat. Reception has also spent time thinking about what makes each of us special and what our superpowers are. Journaling, writing stories, making new friends, and diving into all things Reception has made this term truly unforgettable. We're excited for the adventures ahead!
