Year 1 enjoyed a morning in the science room, exploring resources and completing different challenges and investigations in groups.

We investigated the impact of exercise on our heart rate by measuring our heart rate, completing a variety of different exercises for 30 seconds each and comparing our heart rate one we had finished.

We investigated different materials to see if they were magnetic or not. We also used our magnets to make small cars drive.

We put our design skills to the test completing a variety of Lego building challenges, building roads, tunnels for trains, planes, towers to hold a book to read and much more. We also tested out different designs and shapes to build a tower, using marshmallows and cocktail sticks.We also designed a variety of marble runs.

We enjoyed building different electrical circuits, powering a fan (definitely needed in this weather) and a lightbulb. We also tested out some different types of switches.
